Yahoo! News reports that top Republican Party contributor Sinclair Broadcasting Company has retreated from airing an anti-Kerry propaganda film. The news of the broadcast prompted outrage from the public. Advertisers and shareholders came out against Sinclair’s plans when their pocketbooks were affected by the boycott.
Washington bureau chief for Sinclair, Jon Leiberman was tasked with producing the program, but refused on the basis that it wasn’t news, but editorial commentary. Leiberman voiced this objection to the media and was fired.
Sinclair will air exerpts of the program to a slightly smaller number of viewer markets.
