Kathryn Gritt picked up some Time-Life books from the Sixties at a garage sale, one of which was entitled “The Mind” and contained a case study of the artist Louis Wain whose humorous depictions of cats became multicolored abstractions as his schizophrenia advanced. There’s more on him here: Neuroscience Art Gallery: Art by Psychotics. Louis Wain, but this site features the exact same selections by the exact same artists found in the Time-Life book. Henry Boxer Gallery actually sells Louis Wain artwork! Cool!!
